More Wasted Tax Dollars

This is just one more example of why the alleged Stimulus bill of $800 billion is in fact the mother of all spendulous pork barrel projects.

Part of the money that Sen. Reid, Rep. Pelosi, and President Obama mortgaged our grandchildrens' future for is supposed to go to the creation of Electronic Health Records to assist doctors and reduce costs by making vital patient information easily readable. Well read on and try not to be shocked, but you will be.

(CNSNews.com) – Dr. David Blumenthal, the Obama administration's National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, said on Tuesday that patients can choose to omit procedures such as abortions and positive HIV tests from the electronic health records (EHR) that every American is supposed to have by 2014 under the terms of the economic stimulus law that President Barack Obama signed last year.

What is the point of EHRs if a long lasting trasmitable disease like HIV can be omitted. How are doctors supposed to treat an HIV patient properly if they don't know the patient is HIV positive? Same goes with an abortion, a badly done one will scar the women and adversely impact her ability to conceive later on and/or impact her ability to carry to term. What if the patient demands that the doctor include none of their ailments on the EHR? Other doctors trying to treat this patient would be flying blind, the EHR would be useless, and possibly the patient will die.

It seems HIT is scripted to sound like something worthwhile, but the actuality is it will really do nothing. Well I amend that, it will do something - it will cost every taxpayer money to generate records that have the potential of being useless and possibly lethal to patients.
