Modest Immigration Idea
Has the President completed the environmental impact statement this influx of young illegal aliens will cause upon the United States? Land use, sewage, garbage, crime, power consumption, and possible adverse impact upon endangered species?

Two Tales of Cuba
He called convicted spy Rene Gonzalez in the United States. Who is this Rene Gonzalez? He was one of five Cubans convicted for spying for the communist government of Cuba. How he and his compatriots got convicted is another tale of brutality perpetrated by Cuba. Rene's acts of espionage are connected to the murder of four people. Three US citizens and a permanent US resident - Armando Alejandre, Jr., Carlos Costa, Mario de la Pena, and Pablo Morales were shot down over the Florida Strait in international waters by two Cuban air force MiG-21 fighters. The crime of these four people were to go out in small airplanes and search for refugees fleeing Cuba. They would drop supplies and pamphlets. For these acts of humanity, they were executed.
The sick irony of the Cuban government in having Elian call Rene staggers my mind. Elian at the age of six was one of fourteen trying to flee across the Florida Strait from Cuba. Brothers to the Rescue, to whom these four men belonged, are dedicated to helping save such people from death or worse a return to Cuba. And now Elian has called a man who helped murder good Samaritans.
I earnestly pray that Cuba is swiftly freed from tyranny. That Elian can escape his cage and become a normal person along with the other inmates of the prison called Cuba. That the Cuban exiles in the US can finally see a vibrant Cuba emerge again from the destruction the Castro brothers and communism have visited upon their beautiful island home.

Borders? What Borders
If the Mexican soldiers can not read signs in Spanish, they why are they allowed to drive vehicles. Please no jokes on Mexican drivers, we are talking military drivers.
As for the Customs and Border Patrol folk, glad no one was hurt. But it does raises questions on security. This is one of the official entry points into both countries, why isn't there an armed rapid response team standing by? 1916 was not 100 years ago to use Ezra Klein's yardstick. The grim truth is, the border between a blood-drenched and violence racked Mexico and the United States is wide open.

Crime and Consequences
But it turns out they were not the sharpest pencils in the desk drawer. According to Lt. Butch Townsend, "The deceased subject has a moustache." The owner shot both crooks, killing one and sending the other to the hospital in critical condition. The crooks maynot have come to play, but the store owner was playing for keeps.
Update:
The deceased perp and the critically wounded perp have now been identified. Would you believe both are in this country illegally. The corpse is from Honduras while the one with part of his skull removed is from Guatamala. I guess these illegals are now doing criminal acts Americans don't want to do. When will this lax border enforcement stop?

The Greek Canary
A group of 287 illegal North African immigrants went on a hunger strike as deportation hearings were going on. One immigrant was on the verge of death since the hunger strike has been going on for six weeks and many were in hospitals. So to avoid being vilified the Greek government caved in and these illegals are now on the road to being Greek citizens, which means the opportunity to get on the Greek dole.
I just hope the illegal immigrants pouring across the porous US southern border are not advised of this tactic. But I am sure the La Raza/Amnesty Now freaks will ensure this tactic is known. While ignoring how brutal Mexico is when dealing with illegal immigrants.

Alas California
Again, I do not editorialize, but I note these vast transformations over the last 20 years that are the paradoxical wages of unchecked illegal immigration from Mexico, a vast expansion of California’s entitlements and taxes, the flight of the upper middle class out of state, the deliberate effort not to tap natural resources, the downsizing in manufacturing and agriculture, and the departure of whites, blacks, and Asians from many of these small towns to more racially diverse and upscale areas of California.
Fresno’s California State University campus is embroiled in controversy over the student body president’s announcing that he is an illegal alien, with all the requisite protests in favor of the DREAM Act. I won’t comment on the legislation per se, but again only note the anomaly. I taught at CSUF for 21 years. I think it fair to say that the predominant theme of the Chicano and Latin American Studies program’s sizable curriculum was a fuzzy American culpability. By that I mean that students in those classes heard of the sins of America more often than its attractions. In my home town, Mexican flag decals on car windows are far more common than their American counterparts.
With the incoming administration of socailist democrat Jerry Brown I do not forsee California's situation getting better anytime soon. And if the flight to other locales continues, I say only partly in black humour - "Will the last of the middle class please turn out the lights?"

The People vs Barrack Obama
British forces went to Lexington and Concord to seize the militia arms. The British general's intent was to prevent the colonials from getting into mischief because tensions were very high with a populace chaffing under a Crown governor after George III stripped the colony of its original charter and government. Now tactically for the British it made sense, but to the colonials it was proof the British government, ne George III, cared not for them and would leave these people depending upon British regular forces in Boston to save them from Indian raids.
After all the French and Indian Wars was barely a generation in the past. Naturally the colonials were not going to be left swinging in the wind and thus the American Revolution started.
In the present age we once again have a leader appointing upon himself rights and powers normally vested in the peoples legislature, be it termed Congress or Parliament. He has elected czars who are not accountable to anyone save him. He has bypassed court rulings to push his agenda. He has impeded local and private citizens actions answering to a disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. And now he moves against a state that is trying to protect its citizens after suffering wanton and depraved murder of those citizens, blantant destruction of property, and flagerant flouting of all laws with legal bullying while ignoring such basic concepts as states are soverign entities who have voluntarily entered into a compact to create the Federal government.
So there are very strong indications of this boiling downto a states rights issue, how far will the Federal government stretch its tentacles via the Commerce clause? That is one thing this lawsuit will determine. Assuming the judge does not laugh himself to death reading the lawsuit where it admits the Federal government of Barrack Obama chooses not to enforce legal laws passed by the Congress and vetted by various other courts. This is the kind of government one gets when an amateur is elected to a position far above his head.
I wonder if I have enough popcorn for this schlock theatre?

Obama's 'Let them eat cake' moment
The White House will have to produce the actual recordings of this meeting to disprove what Sen. Kyl is reporting. If Gibbs tries to blow off the reporter who asks for the recording while saying nothing happened, lets all remember Romanov and Seestak plus other internal White House findings of 'nothing happened.' Dear President Obama you are way overdrawn on the trust account. Show the people the proof that Sen. Kyl is mis-stating what you said in a private meeting. Come on, this a chance to destroy the credibility of one of the leading Republican opponents to all you champion. To remain silent is to admit you will not defend the sovereign territory of these United States. The ball Mr. President is in your court, will you toss a wimpy pitch by stonewalling? Or will you finally zing us with a scorching fast-ball by proving Sen. Kyl is a liar?
Thanks Myrtus for pointing this video out to me.

Witless at the Witness Table
In separate testimonies before members of Congress days apart, Eric Holder and Janet Nepolitano both admitted to the same fact. When it came to the new Arizona law dealing with illegal immigration, neither had bothered to read it. But both think the law is a bad idea. You heard me right, the man responsible for prosecuting people under federal immigration laws and the woman tasked with securing the nation's airports, seaports, and borders have not read a state law on immigration enforcement even though it falls under their spheres of responsibility.
The only positive spin I can put on this sorry spectacle is, they were honest in admitting they had not read it. And the only reason that I can think of that fits their individual personalities as to why they were truthful is they feared being prosecuted for perjury at a later date. So we, the People, can now say with a straight face that Eric and Janet are honestly incompetent.

Do We Have a Southern Border?
Customs officers spotted the aircraft about 5 p.m. Tuesday about a mile into U.S. airspace over Falcon Heights, a residential development on the shores of the binational Falcon Lake reservoir. The incursion was “brief,” lasting possibly “15 to 20 minutes,” Pauza said.
...
“It's critically important for Texas, U.S. and Mexican law enforcement to appropriately coordinate our efforts,” Perry said, adding that Sheriff Gonzalez, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Border Patrol were “working together to gather more information” about the incident.
Gonzalez on Friday called the U.S. response a brush-off, “typical ... of our government, in reality an echo of the Mexican government.”
Then we have this about corruption permeating all levels of the US government, on top of all the corruption that has happened in Mexico. I remember the offer Pablo Escobar's cartel in Colombia would give police, judges, and public officials -"Silver or lead?"
As violence continued Thursday with a highway shootout in Tamaulipas, a Senate subcommittee in Washington heard testimony that drug cartels are trying to infiltrate U.S. agencies along the border, with corruption cases among Homeland Security personnel on the rise.
In the past two years, there have been 400 public corruption cases involving federal, state and local law enforcement agents originating from the Southwest border region, Kevin Perkins, FBI assistant director for criminal investigations, told the Senate Homeland Security subcommittee on preparedness.
James Tomsheck, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection assistant commissioner, told the panel the drug cartels operating in Mexico are making a concerted effort to infiltrate CBP, and the agency is responding with more screening of job applicants with polygraph tests and background investigations. Corruption cases were opened last year on 576 CBP officers and Border Patrol agents.
This is not looking good. Not at all. And how much longer will it spiral out of control? The role of government, especially the fedearl government, is to protect the citizens from such foreign depredations.

Terrorists as Criminals Meme
From page 11 I will paraphrase. In April of 1988 New Jersey State Trooper Robert Cieplensky's suspicions were aroused at a rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike by a Japanese man. After getting permission to investigate the man's car, Trooper Cieplensky found three red cylinders on the car's backseat. Suspecting them to be bombs, the man, later identified as Yu Kikumura, was quickly arrested. Mr. Kikumura waived a trail by jury and was convicted. Yu Kikumura is a member of the Japanese Red Army terrorist group with ties to North Korea and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. That Kikumura was in the United States was only because a year earlier he was released by a Dutch judge who ruled the police violated his rights. Kikumura was arrested at Schipol Airport with a bomb disguised as a can of breakfast food. X-ray machines could not discern it as a bomb, but there was 1Kg of explosives in there. The Dutch judge applied the probable cause criteria used in a routine burglarly to this case. So Kikumura was released only to turn up a year later in New Jersey.
For those who woke up to global terrorism after 9/11 and the Clinton vacation from history, a little information about the Japanese Red Army needs to be presented. The JRA was formed in 1971 in Lebanon by Fusako Shigenobu, dubbed the empress of terror. JRA's claim to international terror infamy came in May 1972 when they attacked passengers at Lod, now Ben Gurion, Airport in Tel Aviv where 24 were killed and 80 injured. Fusako Shigenobu is presently in Japanese prison serving a 20 year sentence in part for the taking of the French embassy in the Hague in September of 1974. She blames the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine for that attack. In 2001 she formally disbanded the JRA from her prison cell but vows to continue the struggle peacefully.
Please note that both Kupperman/Kamen's book in 1989 and the Guardian's article from December 13, 2008 link what is nominally a communist terrorist organization with that of a Palestinian terrorist organization. This should not come as a surprise as both share a common cause, the destruction of the West and both were bankrolled covertly by such as the USSR.
Lets get back to Yu Kikumura's case. Here is the DOJ rebuttal that the FBI's expert witness misled the judge during Kikumura's trial. What is telling is what was in those fire extinguisher casings.
The red cylinders were fire extinguishers that had been emptied and refilled with about three pounds of gunpowder, wadding, about three pounds of lead shot, and a flashbulb connected to some wires running out of the top. On one of the bombs, there was an assembled fusing system made from an electric timer, a toggle switch, some batteries, and jack connectors. This timer, Thurman concluded, would allow the bomb to be detonated up to an hour after it was set. The car also contained materials from which similar fusing systems for the other two bombs could be made.
Thurman testified about the bombs found in Kikumura's car. After describing their construction and stating that the completed timer was functional, Thurman discussed the destructive force of the bombs. He said that if the bombs were detonated in an occupied large room with a ten foot ceiling, there would be numerous casualties and significant property damage. He compared the bombs to Claymore mines and opined that, while they were capable of destroying property, they were meant as anti-personnel devices.
Two days after Kikumura was arrested in New Jersey, his comrades in the JRA attacked the USO Service Club in Naples, Italy. One US Navy enlisted woman and four innocent civilians were killed in the explosion.
In October, 2007 Yu Kikumura was released from a US Supermax prison and turned over to Japanese authorities. And there are people who think Yu Kikumura is a hero, an anti-imperialist, and a political prisoner. Like these people, don't click if you don't want to give them traffic but they want to help Yu Kikumura. They probably wear t-shirts with Che's image on it, another hero and anti-imperialist. Yuck.

Here We Go Again
Nattering nitwits with no clues are again 'making plans to leave the country' if Sen. McCain becomes President of the United States this November. I have one thing to say to these people: Move already!
People from Cuba cobble anything that floats together and paddle to Florida to get to the United States. People in Europe and across the globe wait years to immigrate. Then there are the illegals swarming across our Southern boarder. All of these people want into the United States because here they have greater freedom both personally and financially than in their home countries.
To the summer citizens vowing to leave, do so and give up your citizenship. There are millions who are willing to die to take your place and make this country even better. So make room for them. Do I hear crickets now? Yes I do because these people are so feckless, even if they think this country is horrible they know deep down how good they really have it and are afraid to give up their easy existence here in the United States.
Unless these summer citizens put their money where their diatribe is, the currency of their given word is worthless. And so too is anything they do or allegedly stand for. Certainly a miserable existence that they have brought upon themselves and only by redeeming their word will they redeem everything else.

Getting Sold Out
How the heck could Nada Nadim Prouty even get a security clearance? A letter to INS written by her brother-in-law, who is a Hezbollah supporter, should have been an automatic down check on any kind of security clearance.
"It looks more like she was concerned about her brother-in-law being involved in Hezbollah and was legitimately worried about her sister," Cannistraro said. The above is a deliberate attempt to downplay how grievous a breach in security this woman was. She was poking around in classified databases. Like Kim Philby, she could have found some CIA agents or contacts who were close to Hezbollah or other terrorist organizations, pass those names to her brother-in-law, who would then make arrangements, and suddenly those agents or contacts vanish to be never seen again this side of the Pearly Gates. She could be a female Aldridge Aimes but only if the CIA seriously looks into what information she had access to. Considering how the CIA stonewalled and played subversive hardball over Valerie Plame, I have no faith that the CIA will look into it.
Democrats will be wary to bring it into the spotlight because she joined the FBI during the Clinton Administration and then the CIA while Clinton appointee George Tenet still minded the store for President George Bush. Same possibly goes for the White House, but I hope I am wrong. I hope the Department of Justice under Murkasy sinks its teeth into this to find out exactly how much damage this woman did to US national security.

O'Reilly Illegal Meltdown
From the way she was arguing, giving the illegals a drivers license means that magically all the uninsured motorist accidents will be a thing of the past. That this license is magic, like a driving skills+3 in some games lets you pull off some cool stunts. But we are talking reality and giving illegals such documents will NOT cure accidents.
O'Reilly owned this interview, perhaps his staffers should vette guests a bit better. Spluttering and apolexy are not good debating techniques. Nor are raw appeals to each person's emotional beast a sign of winning a debate.

Dead Again
The backers say there is no chance that immigration reform will be brought back up for consideration until after the 2008 elections. My advice, considering how they tried to back-channel this to passage, watch them like a hawk watches a mouse hole.

Politically Correct Suicide
A friend earlier today showed me the newest issue of GX, Guard Experience, which talks about what is happening with the Army National Guard, its citizen-soldiers, and their families. Strangely I have not found an online link to this magazine, just indirect ones like this recruiting link. One article, title eludes me now, made my jaw drop. It deals the the California Army National Guard and hence the tie in with UCLA's problems.
It seems there is a move afoot to make the California Army Guard units reflect more closely the demographics of their communities. Since only 25% of the force is Hispanic while the overall community is more than 32% Hispanic. Officials want this to change since the number of Hispanics in California since the last census has risen by over 57%.
There are a few problems with this rise in the Hispanic population and this plan to address it.
- How many are legal immigrants to the United States, naturalized, or born here in that 57% rise? Bet the percentage of Californians of Hispanic ancestry drops a few percentage points once we toss out all the illegals and felons.
- Unit cohesion above the platoon/company level. To meet these demographically mandated goals, will we see pure Hispanic and pure Anglo units in the same battalion, regiment, or even division? If so, will English be enforced as the lingua franca? If not, then we can kiss cohesion above the platoon level goodbye unless there are enough bilingual personnel. This in an Army that is trying to generate enough speakers of Arabic, Dari, and Farsi to name three critical languages.
- Competence. That is going to be another question. If this is forced down the throat of the Army Guard, will they be picky in the quality of recruits if they have to meet these arbitrary quotas. Sub-par recruits do make it out of Basic Training and AIT, though rarely. The question arises, once they reach their units and are shown to be under-achievers will their units discharge them or keep them on the rolls just to keep their percentage up?
- Loyalty is another hot button item. Recruiters desperate to get recruits may just sign up some with questionable backgrounds. Who is to say, like the Del Monte plant where illegals were using the Social Security cards of deceased Americans or even false ones, the same could not happen with recruits. So we get illegals in a military unit. Will they hold true allegiance to the state of California and the United States? Or covertly serve another country?
- And most troubling of all, will recruiters and unit commanders have to turn away qualified applicants because they are not Hispanic and hence would drive that unit's ethnic ratio below that of the community it is in? Bet some have forgotten Bakke vs the State of California.
If the Army Guard continues to fail to meet these ratios there would be one last gasp for the multiculturals in their quest to make the Guard reflect the general population. Institute a state mandated service period of say two years and by fiat assign a percentage to the Army Guard to keep them at the pre-assigned quota levels.
This is plain and simple a bad idea that needs to be stopped now before the California Army National Guard is destroyed.

The Open Borders
Why the current immigration bill in the Senate is already a loser. It does the same thing as the immigration reform bill that was passed under the Clinton Administration did. It waves a magic wand, in this case the Z-Visa, and turn up to 20 million pumpkins into glass slippers. All it does is push off fixing the problem until sometime in the future while keeping the border open via a lack of adequate barriers.
I bet former President Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de Leon of Mexico is all for these open borders. The man his Yale page lauds with: "He pulled the nation out of a financial crisis right at the start of his term and the result was that under his leadership, Mexico experienced its highest five-year period of GDP growth in recent history. At the same time, social programs were allocated an increasing proportion of the federal budget each year, reaching their highest historical share in 2000." back in 1997 warmly supported these open borders at a La Raza soiree in Chicago: "I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders and that Mexican migrants are an important - a very important - part of it."
This free flow north of Mexico's poor&huddled masses brings down wages in the United States, driving down tax bases even as they increase the burden on those tax bases via medical costs and crime to name two. It also acts a pressure relief valve for Mexico, as the Mexican government suppresses riots it encourages the disaffected to move to the United States - after all the US took half of Mexico so why not take it back. So the impetus for Mexico to reform its political and social structure is diluted as the malcontents move north. Which means Mexico remains a corrupt country for longer where officials and military can be bought along with justice.
Then there is the whole problem of how many jihadists have slipped through and are slipping through via coyotes into the United States via this porous border. Until the southern barriers are reinforced along with penalties for hiring illegals, the Z-Visa is a terrible idea.
Better no immigration bill this year or next versus this travesty that repeats the failures of the previous immigration bill.
