On The Road

Well next few days will be in Dallas, TX attending Projecy A-kon. So I will be knee deep in anime fans. Taking a break from the Democrats 'reality' based politics to view some actual fantasy. If I manage to get connection, will try to post some pictures. If not see you Monday.

Everyone have a safe weekend.

My favorite anime TV series is Gatchaman. I knew it from back in the 70's, when Japanese anime was largely unknown stateside. I'd go to Japan and be enthralled, and come back to the States and be disappointed with the lack of robot transforming toys and Power Ranger type superhero martial arts shows. A watered-down version of Gatchaman did make it's way here, called Battle of the Planets.

Other things I grew up on, off the top of my head (child of the 70's and 80's):

Ultraman, Dangard Ace, Combatra, Go Ranger, GeGeGe no Kitaro.

I'm a bit out of touch with the current wave of anime.

Post pictures!

Well at A-kon I saw a whole crew dressed up as Kamen Reiders. Does that count?

OOhh Ninja Science Team Gatchaman. Yeah classic. Star Blazers or Robotech are others.

I don't think Japan would be Japan without Ultraman. Guy in silver suit who can get real big and battles all these monsters. Heck Jet Jaguar in a Gojira movie could be thought of as an Ultraman spin-off. There was at A-kon the Green Power Rnager and someone dressed up as his dragon-zord - pretty spiffy.

Well I hope you liked the picutres I did post. http://www.fansview.com/ has alot of pictures also.
