Your Fifteen Minutes are So Up!

When I think of a fanatic I truly show my shallow mass-media education.

I am reminded of Chuck Jones' quentisential personification of the fanatical loser: Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius. As Chuck himself describes Coyote's problem: "No, the only enemy the Coyote has is his overwhelming stubborness. Like all of us, at least some of the time, he persists in a course of action long after he has forgotten his original reasons for embarking on it." - Chuck Amuck, pg 219, by Chuck Jones, 1990.

Mark Twain was less charitable in his description of the coyote. "He has a general slinking expression all over. The coyote is a living, breathing allegory of Want."

Both desciptions fit the subjects of this post to a tee. Valerie Plame and her husband Joe Wilson are suing Richard Armitage for disclosing her status as a somewhat secret but somewhat photographed agent of the CIA. These two do not know when to call it quits, they are forever on a personal jihad against anyone who dares voice a contrary opinion because they refuse to admit that perhaps their own actions revealed Valerie's job. It is their blind spot, the log in their collective eye they ignore while berating everyone around them for having a tiny splinter in a pinky finger. These people have become pathetic, a joke that should make all Americans thankful they are no longer in any branch of the government.

Unfortunately, they like Sheehan, Moore, et al, are still the poster children for the "Blame Bush" left in this country. (Even Wile E. Coyote had a fan base.)

I hope that in the end, their insistence on perpetuating this charade exposes them completely to embarrassment and public shame. Right now, they are still getting cheered on by the KosKiddies; and moderates and non-political junkies don't all realize the latest updates to PlameGate. Thanks to the rubbish that is the NYTimes, trusted by the masses, people still think Valerie Plame was outed by the Bush Administration as an act of revenge against Joe Wilson for "discrediting" the "16 words" in the SotUA.

Too bad that after three years of Wilson et. al. lying about Bush lying most of the American people think the big lie is true.

In another vein they are like the Coyote, no matter how often their cherished ideas are shown to have bloody hands; they bounce back to agitate for the same.

Mike, precious cartoon of Wile. :)

And the end of one cartoon there is a knock on the door and Bugs answers it. At the door is a totally banged up Coyote who shakes Bug's hand and says, "Let me introduce myself, my name is Mud."

And Bugs turns to the audience and says, "And remember folks Mud spelled backwards is D U M, dum."
