Furries Gone Wild, Same Answer from Progressives

A little boy has to get rabies shots because a squirrel attacked him in a city park while his mom unwrapped a muffin for a picnic. The city wants to kill the squirrels because they are too used to humans and have lost their fear.

Naturally there is protest against the plan to kill all the squirrels. Which has prompted this response from one person:
"The squirrels will be back," South Bay wildlife rehabilitator Norma Campbell said. "For every one you take out, two more will come in. It could be a never-ending project that isn't going to accomplish anything."

Where have I heard this before? Oh right, progressives aruging that killing a terrorist in Iraq will breed even more jihadi nut jobs so its futile to kill them. Or American military action in VietNam caused more to join the Viet Cong to oppose the Americans. Strange how many hundreds of thousands of South VietNamese fled after the fall of Saigon to the United States.

So we should just let the squirrels and jihadis run loose to kill at will? I do not think so. Or many more innocent people will suffer.

Let's just send the lefty nuts to the park. The squirrels will rip them to shreds and leave normal people alone.

Then, we can catch the squirrels and release them in Waziristan and they can catch Osama.

Oh my, if the Kommando Squirrels do capture Osama bint Laden, that would be an awefully big nut to store for winter.

It is beyond ridiculous to compare squirrels and jihadis. Squirrels do what squirrels do. We are not innocent; we have invaded their living space and built ugly cities there. How many living things die, directly or indirectly, because of human impact--and in "living things," I include human beings too. But the squirrels are innocent. They haven't done a damn thing to merit this butchery.

How about squirrel soup for the homeless.

Put up some warning signs like whatever you do ... Don't touch their nuts !!!

Caution nature can be dangerous !!!

So Cloudberry, lets give up all the technology then and go back to being foragers. Do you want to be part of the 6.2 billion to die off that Ted Turner thinks need to die to save the planet? Or the 100 million he thinks should be let to live?

I know Berry, animals are not the cuddly things shown on some shows. They can bite!

I haven't heard of Ted Turner's plan, although it sounds more realistic than what a lot of people advocate. I generally subscribe to the view of Arminass: "I can do useful things besides dying." (http://www.anus.com/zine/philosophy/index_society.html)
(After all, you don't see Ted Turner killing himself.)

Yes, Nature can be dangerous for those creatures who turn their back on Nature and whose mythology tells them that they are in eternal warfare with it and must subjugate it.
