As the Ad Council gears up to scare the American public with two commercials to shill for global warming, here comes a cold bucket of reality that probably will never get adequate air-time.
According to this study as reported here, the warming trend is caused by the Sun, you know that yellow globe in the sky that if you look at makes you see spots, generating more output than it has before.
Dr Sami Solanki, the director of the renowned Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Gottingen, Germany, who led the research, said: "The Sun has been at its strongest over the past 60 years and may now be affecting global temperatures.
"The Sun is in a changed state. It is brighter than it was a few hundred years ago and this brightening started relatively recently - in the last 100 to 150 years."
I am heartened that Dr. Solanki is willing to admit there might be another cause to the rise in temeratures besides the much dreaded 'greenhouse gases.' Sol is a G3 star, meaning it has been known as a variable output star. The amount of gasses in the atmosphere is always changing so that has an impact. The Earth's orbit is ellipitical and the planet wobbles on its axis even as it turns on the titled axis. So there is no 'simple' one cause for global warming. And anyone who does peddle such a concept is insulting every thinking person by implicitly saying you are not smart enough to make decisions on your own.

Yes, the sun may be hotter, but as we all know "IT'S BUSH'S FAULT". I would like to know how these weather experts who cannot accurately predict what the weather is going to do the next day, can predict with such certainty what is going to happen 100 years from now

I know as the morning people here in Jacksonville have been commenting on all this week. Earlier this week it was in the low 80s for highs. This morning it was 34F and might see 62F for a high. And their predicted times for rain were a bit off.
Until the models are better, all it is is weather astrology.
I guess the global warming folks need to turn the sun's thermostat down...except in Jacksonville! ;)
It would be nice Tom, supposed to be 58F for a high today.
:)
Has anyone told Al Gore?
Of course he does, he 'invented' the Internat don't ya know. :)
