This makes my brain hurt
The Saudis decided to get in on the act of destroying historical things, but with a strange twist. Back in 2002 the Saudis destroyed the last vestige of Ottoman occupation to make way for more space for pigrims. Sounds reasonable? Well the fortress was 220 years old and this terribly upset Turkey which is proud of its Ottoman heritage, as well they should since the Ottomans held sway over a lot of the world before World War I. What makes my head hurt over this is the Saudi renovation plans. As part of the redevelopment, the Saudis plan to reconstruct the fort. You heard me right, reconstruct a 220 year old fort they just destroyed.

Well Anna, when you have all of the money in the world, you do run out of things to buy. So under that premise, it is logical.

Am reminded of the phrase, "To save the village we had to destroy it."
Saudi Arabia, the complete welfare state where everything is given you. Though once the oil runs out or lessens, the wheels come off the government.
Anna-what do you want to bet that there will not be one Saudi worker on the project

AndyJ, probably right. Except for the Prince supervising and making last minute changes.
