Are we not family?

As I was waiting in line one day I got in a conversation with another patron of the convenience store. We talked of various things and then we got to political items. They were going on about how we should not be in Iraq that it was none of our business. Of course, by now, I had them pegged as a Democrat so I had to ask a question in return. I asked them why shouldn’t we be there since it was from Ur that Abraham came from and Ur is located in modern Iraq. This is where that particular discussion just stopped after my new friend still insisted the US should not be in Iraq.

It maybe strange the question I asked but for the region it was fair since Christian denominations predominated the area. This in turn got me to thinking on the story of Cain and Abel. Cain murdered his brother and when G_d came looking for Abel He asked Cain where his brother was. To which Cain retorted in the now famous line, “I am not my brother’s keeper.”

The story popped to mind because in my newfound friend’s words I could hear Cain’s voice.

Some readers are probably wondering what is passing for reasoning between my ears. No, I have not gone off the deep end into feel good mushiness. We are not our brother’s keeper in the literal sense but we are a family called humanity and family looks out for each other.

Arts&Entertainment channel has a show called Intervention where family, friends, and even professionals will confront a person with how out of control their life is while offering ways out of the destructive downward spiral. It is a pretty gut wrenching program, but sometimes such direct means is all that is left to save the person from themselves.

I see Iraq as a country that needed immediate drastic intervention in order to save it. For over thirty years the country’s leader was an insane evil dictator. The family of nations tried negotiations with this dictator and one previous bout of mild intervention, but none of it worked. Some of the failing was because some nations actually were enablers of Iraq’s dysfunctional life. So, in the end, an immense and costly intervention had to be carried out before Iraq died.

I refuse to speak in Cain’s voice.

Of course, the links to Al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations, notwithstanding the violations of the 1991 cease-fire agreement, are somehow irrelevant to this discussuion, if you ask most of that crowd.

IFLH announces Senator David Cain has joined its Board of Directors!!

IFLH volume trading is beginning to surge with landslide Announcement. The value of this
stock appears poised for growth! This one should not remain on the ground floor for long.

InterFinancial Holdings, Corp. (OTC Pink Sheets: IFLH - News) announced that they have added
David Cain to their board of directors. David Cain is currently the Chairman of the advisory
board to TTI (Texas Transportation Institute). Senator Cain represented Senate District 2 for
eight years in the Texas Senate and Chaired the Senate State Affairs Subcommittee on
Transportation and served nine terms in the Texas House of Representatives for District 107.

During his twelve years as Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, Senator Cains
efforts on behalf of the people of Texas have been widely recognized. He was named to Texas
Monthly Magazines list of Ten Best Legislators, the Dallas Morning News said he was one of
the outstanding legislators of the 73rd session, and the Texas Department of Transportation
awarded him the Russell H. Perry Award in 1995 for his efforts to gain public awareness of
the need for and benefits of transportation facilities in the State of Texas.

Jeffrey C. Bruteyn, Managing Director, stated, We at InterFinancial are proud to have such a
widely recognized Senator join our board and oversee out automotive lending division. His
affiliations and connections to the automotive industry will be invaluable to our company.
Senator Cain will be instrumental in expediting our approval to use a government issued Seller
Finance License.

Seller Finance Licenses are very difficult to obtain and are usually reserved for the Big Boys
with heavy lobbyists. These licenses are highly coveted because it allows the finance company
to collect the entire down payment, instead of paying a portion of it to the taxing authority.
This dramatically helps a finance companys bottom line if the buyer defaults on the loan.

With the new GPS tracking systems being installed on every car to dramatically improve
repossessions and with Senator Cain on the Board of Directors, InterFinancial Holdings
is ready to take their business to the next level.

I know. Plus ignoring how those dear UN inspectors under Hans Blix had reported to the UN they could not account for some chemical munitions and Saddam playing games as to when he might release data.

This cat&mouse game combined with Saddam's known history of using chemical weapons these peace activists expect the civilised countries to take Saddam at his word.

Talk about delusionally suicidal fools.

As for my post I felt an urge after this encounter to frame why we are there in terms that may cause a few to pause and think. Nevermind the spammer. ^_^;
