Just realized something. A true indicator of how far the Liberal party has traveled in 50 years ideologically. If Klaatu came to Earth now and told world leaders they had to shape up or else, the Liberal party we currently know would protest and characterize Klaatu as a neo-con imperialist bent on extending intergalactic hegemony to Earth.
Pretty amusing since The Day the Earth Stood Still won a Golden Globe for "Best Film Promoting International Understanding."
