When I ...

...watch the TV news the following song starts playing in the back of my mind. It is by Don Henley and I think it says a lot about current media.

I make my living off the evening news
Just give me something, something I can use
People love it when you lose, they love dirty laundry
Well, I could've been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear, give us dirty laundry -- Connie Chung with Gingrich's mother?

Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down --Schwarzenager/Giuliani/etc
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em all around

We got the bubbleheaded bleach-blonde, comes on at 5
She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye -- Katie Couric?
It's interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry -- post mortem Arafat wealth
Can we film the operation? Is the head dead yet? -- Where is the Shah?
You know the boys in the newsroom got a running bet -who is the embed with the footage?
Get the widow on the set, we need dirty laundry -- 911 widows against OIF
You don't really need to find out what's going on -- Clinton Healthcare reform
You don't really want to know just how far it's gone -- Oil for Food scandal
Just leave well enough alone, keep your dirty laundry -- McDermott visits Saddam

Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down --Bush/Rumsfeld/etc
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're stiff, kick 'em all around

Dirty little secrets, dirty little lies -- Who outed Plame?
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie -- Oh Bill and Monica? Everyone does it.
Love to cut you down to size, we love dirty laundry --Bush was AWOL!
We can do the innuendo, we can dance and sing -- Dan Rather?
When it's said and done, we haven't told you a thing -- Rwanda genocide was who's fault?
We all know that crap is king, give us dirty laundry -- Michael Moore?

Actually on second thought, the type Don is talking about are pure opportunists. I really wish the current crop of newscasters were just that and not people with partisan agendas. Then again if they were just opportunists, then there would be no difference between them and tabloid media.

Instead we get such as Dan Rather who's hatred of President Bush is so overwhelming he was willing to believe some shoddy forgeries were legit. Now who is the fanatic with a cause again? Oh yeah militant Islam which abhors everything about Western Civilisation, but many in the media like Mr. Rather do not think that is important; instead they think getting George Bush out of the Oval Office will cure all that is wrong with the world, including those dreadfully misunderstood followers of Islam who are merely seeking to redress all the wrongs done to them by George Bush. This is what truly staggers the mind that such people fail to grasp the next step in the process. If George Bush and others like him are banished to the hinterlands and the desired policy of appeasement[ oh dreadfully sorry for that word, to reach an understanding with the Islamic chaps] is instituted; those Muslim militants[like bullies before them like oh Ghengis Khan and Mussolini] will merely redouble their effort, conquer Western Civilisation, and henceforth under Islamic law banish/execute for blasphemy any like Mr. Rather who dare ask any troubling questions.

All I can guess at to explain such a disconnect with reality is their towering opinion of themselves as better so when the Dhimmitude squads arrive they will not be lined up and shot like all those other people are. Wrong answer, first project of a totalitarian regime is to execute the known troublemakers so they can stay in power. And media darlings like Dan Rather and Michael Moore, while serving the purpose of paralyzing an effective response by the West, in a truly Islamic nation state would be kicked off the airways and if they made any protests could suffer the fate of that Canadian photographer in Tehran - arrested, beaten, tortured, killed while in custody, and her body buried in Iran so there could never be evidence of what really happened.

Okay, I think I finished ranting enough. And in case I don't blog again until after Christmas:
Feliz Navidad, Bouno Natal, Joyeaux Noel, and Merry Christmas.

P.S. If you have suggestions to add to the lyrics or change what I added, please let me know.
