Today Sen. Barack Obama had two stark choices with his speech. Instead of boldly supporting his long time pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright and risking a backlash or boldy denouncing the same man with possibly the same effect, Obama tried to find a middle path to please everyone. He failed.
After looking at a transcript of the speech, I must say I have seen a less but on an 800lb sow than in that speech. Every sentence it seems started by sounding inclusive and bridge-building, alas the caboose of each sentence introduced the politics of envy and covetedness thus negating the first part.
I am reminded of a Japanese proverb that came to haunt the IJN after the fiasco called the Battle of Midway, "He who chases two hares, catches neither."
