Cartoon by John Trever, Albuquerque Journal.Russia's first president Boris Yeltsin has passed away at the age of 76. Cause of death has not been released. Yeltsin gained world renown for courage when old Soviet hard-liners tried to stage a coup against Mikhail Gorbachev as Gorbachev vacationed. Rallying the people of Moscow, Yeltsin stopped the coup and prevented the nascent country from sliding back into totalitarianism. He will be missed.
