Just finished watching on History Channel their episode of Declassified about the Ayatollah Khomenni. Thought it would provide some new insight. How wrong was I?
The only ex-administration officials interviewed served during the Carter and Clinton administrations. A guy from the NSC 1976 to 1981 and Madeline Albright, Clinton's Secretary of State. The final howler came when they interviewed Helen Thomas about the Iran-Contra scandal. There was not a single Reagan or Bush 41 administration official interviewed to refute any of the allegations, especially one that alleges the US convinced the UN to fudge reports about Iraqi chemical weapons use during the Iran-Iraq war. The way the show presented things, it was only the US that supported Iraq after 1982 in its war against Iran also.
As for Carter and Desert One, the show blamed the tragedy due to bad weather. Omitting the rushed training. Poor inter-service coordination and rivalry. The overly complex CIA rescue plan. To name a few things omitted.
Now History Channel has another show about Iran on, about the Iran pursuing nuclear weapons. Should I even bother?
